Meta verifies Education Minister’s Facebook account with blue tick

Meta (formerly Facebook) has verified the Facebook account of Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, Ghana’s Minister for Education. The blue tick badge on his account indicates that it is the authentic profile of the public figure.

In a social media post, Dr Adutwum announced his approval as a verified Facebook user and urged Ghanaians to look out for the blue tick by his name. He also stated that his verified account will only be used for official communication and engagement with constituents and the general public.

Dr Adutwum is a Ghanaian politician and Member of Parliament representing the Bosomtwe Constituency in the Ashanti Region. He has a PhD in Educational Policy, Planning and Administration from the University of Southern California. Prior to his appointment as Education Minister, he served as Deputy Minister for Education in charge of Pre-tertiary Education.

Dr Adutwum’s verified Facebook account will be a valuable platform for him to communicate with the Ghanaian public about his work as Education Minister. It will also help to prevent the spread of misinformation about him and his policies.
