2023 NSMQ grand finale postponed over late Ga Manye III funeral

The 2023 National Science and Mathematics Quiz (NSMQ) grand finale has been postponed from October 24 to October 31, to accommodate the final funeral rites of the late Ga Manye Naa Dedei Omaedru III.

The organizer, Primetime Limited, announced the postponement in a statement, expressing condolences to the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the Ga State, and the bereaved family.

The postponement is due to a traditional ban on noise-making, trading, and other public activities during the funeral period.

Meanwhile, Presbyterian Boys Senior High School (Presec-Legon), Opoku Ware School, and Achimota School have qualified for the grand finale.

The qualified schools emerged after a series of semi-final matches held on October 19, 2023.

In one semi-final match, Wesley Girls’ High School faced off against Achimota School and St. Louis Senior High School. In another semi-final match, Opoku Ware School went head-to-head with Pope John Senior High School and Seminary and Prempeh College. The third semi-final match featured Keta Senior High Technical School, Mfantsipim School, and Presec-Legon.

The grand finale of the 2023 NSMQ will be held on October 31, 2023, at the National Theatre in Accra.
